Bangladesh Overtook China As India's Largest Cotton Yarn Exporter

   According to Indian customs data, Bangladesh has replaced China as the largest exporter of Indian cotton yarn in 2021. India exported 178,000 tons of cotton yarn to Bangladesh in 2021-2022, up 111.9 percent year-on-year, accounting for 38.7 percent , an increase of 10.1 percent year-on-year share. In the near future, the Pitrapo land port on the India-Bangladesh border will be opened, which will further facilitate Bangladesh's garment industry to purchase yarn, cotton and other textile materials from India and tap greater potential of bilateral trade.
